Now you can take Barre classes on Withsara and experience a full-body barre burn from your home studio.

What is Barre?

Barre workout focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements that lift and tone muscles and improve strength, agility, and flexibility for everybody. Each barre class is designed to be a full-body, muscle endurance workout. The class is broken into different sections that focus on major muscle groups including, the arms, legs, glutes, and core.

Why Barre?

Barre can give you a long lean muscle tone without the bulk. Barre workout uses a combination of ballet, Pilates, cardio, and resistance moves, all at a high-energy pace, to challenge the body in a unique way. No other workout combines grace and athleticism like barre.

Benefits of barre

By now, you know that barre builds strength and muscle and increases flexibility. But the benefits don't end there. Barre class also boosts endurance, improves balance, increases range of motion, and promotes better posture. You may find yourself sitting or standing straighter after doing barre.

Equipment needed

With barre, you are often using small hand weights (or none at all), and a stable surface such as a table, chair, or barre.  We also recommend a high-quality yoga mat for Barre classes, as you utilize one in nearly every class. Keep in mind that you can also use items you already have, such as a filled water bottle as weights.

Tips for Beginners

Barre classes vary in experience level, but the Barre classes offered at Withsara are very beginner-friendly and adaptable to different skill sets and ability levels! Whether you want to improve your posture, build your core strength, become more flexible, or just break up the monotony of your normal gym routine, barre is for you.

Withsara Barre class description

Every class starts with a warm-up, and upper-body exercises, followed by a sequence of leg and seat work at the barre and core exercises on the floor. Sara's barre class predominantly uses your own body weight for resistance along with a few basic props - free weights and a mat. You are continually challenged with endless variations of each exercise timed to the beat of the music. While each class is unique, the method follows a consistent sequence to work the right muscles in the right order, in order to maximize results. All levels work within their individual limits while receiving encouragement to continually push forward.

Hi! I'm Sara, the founder of Withsara. I have been a fitness group instructor, Barre teacher and Yoga teacher for over 10 years. I am also a certified Nutritional Health Coach from IIN in New York, USA.

After giving birth to my two beautiful daughters, I have had to build up my body twice after my pregnancies. With my experience, I have created a workout that is a great combination of low impact, functional movement, pilates, barre, and yoga. It builds up deep core strength, creates sustainable and lasting change, relieves physical tension and mental stress, and gives you an overall healthier and happier body.
